Stop Smoking because …
Are you one of the millions of people who have tried to quit or has wanted to stop your smoking habit?
As you may know, stop smoking is one of the hardest addictions to break. Not only is this habit the leading cause of lung cancer, causes strokes, emphysema, and many other smoking related illnesses but it has become socially unacceptable in many places.
Look at it this way; the cost of buying a pack of cigarettes are climbing, many public places such as restaurants and even bars are banning smoking, and many employers are enforcing strict no smoking rules or they are not hiring smokers at all. These things alone result in it being the best time to stop smoking and kick the habit.
The reasons why you should stop smoking are that you are preserving your health, saving money, setting a better example for your family members, saving others from having to breathe in your secondhand smoke, and it has become more socially unacceptable in most places.
Here are a few of the health benefits that come when you stop smoking:
1. You will be alive longer so you can witness the great things in life, like watching your children grow up.
2. Decreases the risk of many types of cancer, emphysema, heart attacks, stroke, and many other health problems.
3. If you are pregnant and you stop smoking before your second trimester, this reduces the risk of having a baby with low birth weight.
4. Though you might have some weight gain, it doesn’t outweigh the benefits of becoming smoke free.
There are even awesome, immediate benefits that come when you stop smoking; like not smelling like an old ashtray, your breath doesn’t stink, your teeth start to get whiter, the yellow that you have on your fingertips and nails start to disappear, food tastes better, and you are actually able to smell things.
Now the question is what do you need to do in order to stop smoking?
First you have to be ready to stop smoking; you cannot be successful unless you are truly ready and desire it to happen. There are several programs available to help you along the way. Remember, you can do this; it just takes willpower and determination to do it.
