If you ask someone why they smoke cigarettes, they’d give you all sorts of answers. Smoking causes cancer; a very visible line that you’d most probably see in every cigarette pack. How many would have stopped to think twice about the truth behind that simple line? If there were people who actually noticed it and stopped smoking, the world would be a better, smoke-free place to live in. But unfortunately, that is not the case. Smoking is a damper to anyone’s life. This addiction can harm the most important part of your life; your health. Having millions of dollars at your feet won’t help if you end up with a deadly sickness like cancer. If you said no to any of the above, then why quit smoking is essential would be rather obvious isn’t it?
If you are anywhere serious about overcoming this bad habit, it first important to know why quit smoking cigarettes is needed. It can be difficult at the beginning, but as experts say, if there is a will, there’s always a way.
The most important reason why quit smoking is needed now more than ever is because of the increased number of patients suffering from cancer. Yes, you heard it right. Cancer, one of the deadliest illnesses that have taken the lives of millions in and around the world can occur to people who smoke regularly. Smoking paves the way to all sorts of cancers, including lung and throat cancer. But the good part is that if you quit smoking for a minimum period of 10 years at a stretch, you have a low risk of getting such a sickness.
Although many smokers believe that they are far away from getting sick, smoking actually accelerates the chance of being infected with a disease. Some even get chronic illnesses like asthma, etc.
A lot of male smokers become infertile because of their smoking habit. Some are actually ignorant about this fact, but it is the truth. As a result of smoking, the sperm count in men decrease and as a result lose their chances of having a child. Women smokers will also be unable to get pregnant.
Why quit smoking is critical, as doctors say, is because it can lead to depression. Although some believe that smoking lightens the mind and restrains their state of depression, it actually enhances it.
If you smoke and already know about the above mentioned reasons, and yet smoke, then at least thinking about the cost would be beneficial. Today, a single cigarette pack would cost more than $5. If you are a person who has a regular consumption of approximately twenty cigarette packs per month, would you have any idea as to what kind of a cost you’d be incurring by the end of a year?
You can quit smoking if you really want to. It’s a matter of motivation and will power. Once you’ve achieved that, the rest could be easy as 1, 2, and 3.
