Why do people smoke? People do all sorts of bad things to themselves, smoking is one example. Sadly, there is nothing positive or healthy when it comes to smoking. Smokers face many problems such as smelly clothes, yellow teeth, burn marks on clothing, etc. Thru all of this, you may wonder why do smokers smoke?

Most people continue smoking because they are simply addicted to it. Despite a fall in activity and productivity, smokers still continue to smoke. Nicotine in cigarettes makes it difficult for people to give up smoking.

Then why do people smoke when they know it has negative effects on their pocketbook and health? Different smokers start smoking because of their own individual reasons and it is reported that many smokers started smoking for the very first time before they were even twelve years old. Most of these premature starters are due to peer pressure. Many people who have smoked for a long time admit to starting when they were a teen.

People still ask the question, why do people smoke? Stress causes lots of adults to take up smoking. They are under the illusion that smoking helps them relax. What they don’t know is that smoking will only harm them in the long run.

Some people have different tolerance levels of stress, while others need some sort of coping mechanism. Maybe they will wonder why people smoke and even want to give up smoking at some point in the future, but in order to successfully quit smoking they will need to have total control over themselves. Once they get addicted to nicotine, it will not be easy for the people to give up smoking so easily. Hopefully now you have a better idea of why do people smoke.
