The Best Ways to Quit Smoking

Browse the internet or turn on the television and you’ll see advertisements that make you realize that there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of ways to quit smoking.  Patches, gums, inhalers, sprays, pills, and yes, even “cold turkey” are all popular options.  But with all these choices in front of you, a person may wonder just what are the best, ideas to quit smoking   available and the most affordable, and yes, the easiest ways to quit smoking?

If this sounds like you, don’t despair.  There are many out there in the same boat.  After all, smoking has been found to be as addictive as any illegal narcotic, including heroin, marijuana, and cocaine.  Teaching someone how to quit smoking is often as easy as teaching them how to quit eating!

It’s important not to get overwhelmed by your many options when it comes to ways to quit smoking, and to choose one and move forward with your decision.  There is not usually a right or wrong decision to make, simply a decision that must have follow through.

It’s also good to remember that there are many natural ways to quit smoking.  If you’re one that wants to go it cold turkey and just simply quit, you need to remember a few things to help you along the way.  For one, be mindful of your diet.  You’ll get cravings to eat something, and if you fill up on sugary treats and fried foods, this will just make your stomach upset and queasy, and when you feel bad, you’ll want to reach for a cigarette.

Many are also turning to hypnosis in their efforts to quit smoking.  It may sound like old-fashioned quackery to many, but hypnosis can actually help the mind relax and help someone replace their negative thoughts and cravings for cigarettes with more positive ones.  For example, a hypnotist may plant the suggestion that a craving for a cigarette makes you physically sick, so that every time you think about smoking, you feel queasy or upset.  This helps you to walk away from smoking for good, since it’s no longer an enjoyable experience for you.

Of course, old-fashioned remedies can actually work very well too.  Taking Epsom salt baths may help to draw the excess tar and nicotine from your system, making your cravings disappear much quicker.  Drinking plenty of water keeps you hydrated, which also helps calm cravings.  And
physical exercise gets your blood circulating and brings fresh oxygen to your limbs and organs, making you feel good all the way around.

Yes, there are a variety of ways to stop smoking once and for all, and it may be shortsighted to say that any of them are easy, but with some determination and willpower, and the decision to take care of yourself while you’re quitting, you can successfully kick this habit.
