Stop Smoking Symptoms – What To Expect When You Kick The Habit

It’s not as improbable as many people say.  You can kick out the habit of smoking.  With the right motivation, the right approach and the right mentality, you can say adieux to your potentially fatal habit and turn a new leaf in life, one that is calming and nicotine-free.

What many would-be former smokers are unable to realize, however, is that there are many quit smoking symptoms that are sure to block their efforts.  The issue I observe is that many people who manage to quit smoking are caught by surprise by these quit smoking symptoms.  The outcome is tragic, many of them fall into relapse, finding comfort the familiar feeling of their unhealthy habit.  (Tip: There are now stop smoking drugs that can relieve these symptoms.  Read to the end to find out how.)

Therefore, I think it’s best to enumerate these quit smoking symptoms so that you – as someone who will soon kick out your smoking habit – will discover how to face them head on to guarantee that you won’t fall back to something that you should bid farewell to for all of eternity.

- You will start to crave for food, more than usual.  Or so you may think.  The deal is, smoking offers a type of oral satisfaction.  When you quit smoking, your system will be very much accustomed to supporting something between your lips thus it will be desperate to find a substitute.  Eating, of course, is the easiest alternative.  Therefore, smokers who manage to stop smoking often find themselves longing for something to eat – or something to nibble to be exact.  The consequnce will be some extra weight in the first two quarters after quitting the habit.

- Your work rate will be lower, at least for the first few months.  Such can be attributed to the fact that you’re so used to “rewarding” yourself with a stick of cigarette every break.  When you stop smoking, you won’t have that “prize” to look forward to.  Therefore, you’ll be less motivated to mow through the demands of your days.  This is easy to solve.  Just find a new prize!

- The craving for a puff will never go away.  Whenever you’re idle, you’ll want to light up a stick.  Whenever you want to focus on work, you’ll want to smoke.  Whenever you’re stressed, you’d want to relax with some puffs.  Throughout all these, you will hold your breath until the time comes when the craving will stop.  Here’s the cold fact: the craving will never cease.  It’s just something you will have to learn how to deal with.  It may be difficult, but surely, you’re sturdier than that, right?
