2. Stop Smoking Medications- These stop smoking aids include Zyban; an antidepressant drug, known to reduce the craving for cigarettes; and Chantix which came on the market in 2006. Chantix uses the brains receptors to makie it think you have nicotine in your system. If you have a cigarette, the medication will block nicotine from going into your system.
A. Pros- This method does not contain nicotine.
B. Cons- Chanix has been reported to be linked to serious bouts of depression and to suicidal thoughts from its users. Zyban has side effects that are commonly experienced, such as dry mouth, change in eating habits, dizziness, agitation, and headaches.
3. Alternative methods- These stop smoking aids include stop smoking hypnosis which relaxes you and leaves your mind more susceptible of new ideas, acupuncture and ancient Chinese method (ACM), stop smoking laser and other alternative methods.
A. Pros- These aids are nicotine free and help many to stop smoking completely.
B. Cons- None of these methods are proven to work.
There is no real “best” stop smoking aid to help you quit smoking. If you are ready to take this challenge, then these methods can work for anyone. Yet in order to succeed, you need to be ready to make the commitment to quit.
